Found in Mexico, Middle America and South America; also naturalized in several places in the Old World tropics.
Native and widespread in tropical America; in Asia, known to be in India, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

along roadsides, in Agricutlural fields and waste places. Altitude: 220–600 m.
