Description
Habit:
Stems twining, thin, slender, sparsely pubescent or glabrous.
Leaves:
Leaves ovate, 8-15 by 4-7½ cm, base deeply cordate, apex acuminate, with long and narrow, obtuse or acutish, mucronulate acumen, sparsely and minutely pubescent on both sides, more densely on the nerves beneath , or nearly glabrous; lower surface reddish; nerves 7- 10 on either side of the midrib; petiole 4-7 cm.
Inflorescences:
Inflorescences axillary, 1-2-flowered; peduncle thin, 2-5 cm
long, sparsely pubescent or nearly glabrous. Pedicels longer than the calyx, slender, 15- 30 mm. Bracts minute, caducous.
Flowers:
Sepals subequal, 9-11 mm long, the outer ones orbicular to broadly elliptic, rounded at the apex, sparsely pubescent outside, shortly ciliate in the upper part; interior ones broadly elliptic. Corolla funnel-shaped, probably 6- 8 cm long; midpetaline bands sparsely pilose outside and with minute black glands, or glabrous.

Other information
General comments:
The species can be distinguishedfrom S. tiliifolia mainly by the much more slender stems and peduncles, the smaller flowers and the long acuminate leaf-blades with a red lowersurface.
