Infraspecific Characters:

Five varieties are recognized based on indumentums characters and whether the ovary is glabrous or hairy. The following key will separate them:

1. Sepals outside glabrous or hairy only at apex

2. Inflorescence loose, open; style glabrous                                                      var. glabrum

2. Inflorescence dense, compact; style shining white hairy                  var. taynnguyenense

1. Sepals entirely covered outside in hairs

3. Sepals with long patent fulvous or brownish hairs

4. Ovary hairy                                                                                     var. borneense

4. Ovary glabrous                                                                           var. binectariferum

3. Sepals with much shorter, less patent grayish hairs

5. Ovary and fruits hairy                                                                    var. trichocarpum

5. Ovary and fruits glabrous                                                                       var. eymae
