Description
Habit:
Shrubs, scandent. Branchlets distinctly striate, appressed pilose, glabrescent.
Leaves:
Petiole 1–1.2 cm; leaf blade elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 6–9 × 2.5–4.3 cm, papery, abaxial surface sparsely strigillose and finely spotted, adaxial surface glabrous, base cuneate, apex abruptly acute; lateral veins 5–7 pairs, veinlets indistinct.
Inflorescences:
Inflorescences terminal or axillary, racemose or paniculate, 8–10 cm, densely appressed brownish pubescent.
Flowers:
Pedicel ca. 2 mm. Sepals circular, 2–3 mm, densely appressed red-brown sericeous. Corolla ca. 7.5 mm, midpetaline bands red-brown sericeous outside; lobules oblong-ovate, ca. 3 mm, margin crenulate. Filaments very short, dilated basally; anthers ovate-oblong, apex abruptly acuminate. Ovary globose, glabrous; stigma capitate, 5-ridged.

General comments:
Hoogland
(1953: 358) did not examine any type material for this species and suggested,
based on the description, that it might be conspecific with Erycibe schmidtii Craib.
