Staples, G.W. 2006. Blumea 51: 403–491.
Porana volubilis is recognized by lenticellate stems; pinnate leaf venation; calyx about half as long as the corolla; fully or partly 2-locular ovary; 2-branched style; reniform stigmas; and the fruiting sepals only slightly accrescent relative to their size at flowering. Furthermore, plants have a weakly twining almost scrambling habit, and the seeds are rather often grooved or lobed.
