Abstract:

The genus Merremia is found in the tropical regions of both hemispheres. The climbing species with fast growth rates can become troublesome weeds of cultivation and forestry. Several Merremia species have become serious weeds of forestry plantations in the Solomon Islands. The important species are discussed and a new species, Merremia bracteata, found in Merremia infestations is described.
