A total of 16 species are recognized, of which M. warderensis Sebsebe, and M. dimorphophylla subsp. ogadenensis Sebsebe are described as new. New combinations are made for M. dimorphophylla (Verdc.) Sebsebe, M. candei (A. Terracc.) Sebsebe and M. subpalmata subsp. tenuisecta (Verdc.) Sebsebe.
