Abstract:

The circumscription, taxonomic history, and morphological characteristics of the genus Turbina Raf. are reviewed. The Old World taxa of Turbina are summarized. Four species of Turbina have heretofore been known in the New World; a new species from lower Amazonian Brazil, T. amazonica, is described, the neotropical species are revised and a key is provided for them.
